Imari porcelain refers to Japanese export ceramics manufactured in the Arita region and shipped from the port of Imari, characterised by underglaze cobalt blue paired with overglaze iron-red enamels and gilded details.

These ceramics are formed from fine kaolin clay, fired at high temperatures with an initial underglaze blue, followed by secondary firings to fuse overglaze red enamels and metallic leaf detailing.
