The folds of the fabric, the supple lines of the body and facial expression combine to express complex emotions and vitality. A masterpiece that showcases the artist's technical skill and artistry. The statue is signed ‘E. Beck’ on the foot and sits on a marble base. 46cm high x 20cm wide x 18.5cm deep, weight 9.5kg.

Ernst Beck was born in 1879 in Altlengbach (Lower Austria) and died in 1941 in Vienna. He was a pupil of Alois Delug at the Viennese Academy of Arts and in addition to being a master sculptor was also a landscape painter and graphic designer. Beck was a member of the Viennese Secession and also a member of the Viennese Kuenstlerhaus.
