Gilded Figure of Cupid C.1920

1900 - 1920
Description

Good figure of a young male winged angel, presumably Cupid, carrying a bow and a quiver of arrows and holding aloft a flaming touch. After the French sculptor George Maxim (1885-1940). Standing 24½" tall. Very nicely cast in spelter with original mellow gilt finish. Raised on a 5½" diameter turned and painted wooden base with a brass plaque inscribed 'Hesitation par Geo Maxim'. Very good condition.
