Grand Tour Bronze Sphinx on Marble Base

Description

A handsome mid 19th century, ‘Grand Tour’, bronze figure of a Sphinx. The patinated winged Sphinx supported by a stepped Brocatelle violette d’Espangne & Belgian black marble base. The wings in closed form, possibly for holding calling cards. Original worn patination with traces of gilding.
