A Fine Large Elegant Bronze Figure

1900 - 1920
Description

GOTTHILF JAEGER: a large and most impressive Art Nouveau BRONZE of a naked young woman dancing. This clearly beautiful young lady has been justifiably tenderly and beautifully modelled; a fine example of the work of this renowned sculptor. Fully signed within the integral oval bronze base. This is a large (and heavy!) bronze, measuring 64cms (over 25ins) tall. Highly recommended. circa 1900-1910.

** Gotthilf Jaeger was born in Cologne in 1871 and studied at the Karlsruhe Volz Academy of Art, under the founder, sculptor HermannVolz. Jaeger then moved to Berlin where his dramatic bronze figures won great acclaim. Later he himself taught at at the School of Applied Arts in Pforzheim. He died in 1933 at the relatively young age of 62.
