Superb Pair of Austrian Bronze Partridges

Description

An impressive and quite large PAIR of late 19th century Austrian (“Vienna”) cold-painted BRONZE PARTRIDGES, in excellent original condition. Depicting both male and female birds standing proudly with their distinctive red head-stripes. Almost certainly by Franz Xaver Bergmann (indistinct trademark under tail of one bird) and stamped with the number “837”. 13.5cms (over 5.25ins) high. Priced for the pair.

** The “French” partridge is a pretty and distinctive game bird, that nests and feeds on the ground ~ never to be found perched in a pear tree!
