Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian campaign washstand from 1860 is an exceptionally practical three-tier side table designed with rich brown polished walnut and bright brass mounts. The piece stands on slender turned brass pillars supporting three graduated oval tiers, each framed by a decorative raised brass gallery edge and small brass finials. The warm grain of the timber contrasts cleanly with the metal supports, creating a balanced and orderly silhouette well suited for a gentleman's library or positioned neatly at the end of a sofa. Measuring 83.8 cm high, 72.4 cm wide, and 47 cm deep, the unit provides generous multi-level display and storage space within a relatively compact footprint. Placed in a modern interior, it functions reliably as a sturdy surface for lamps, books, or decorative objects, blending traditional campaign styling with everyday utility.

FAQs

Look for modular construction, brass hardware displaying natural oxidisation, hand-turned metal or timber uprights, and solid joinery designed for ease of travel.

Position the piece as an occasional side table beside upholstered seating, or use the multiple surfaces to display books, ceramics, and small decorative items.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry microfibre cloth, apply beeswax sparingly to the timber tiers, and avoid abrasive polish on the brass elements to preserve the patina.

Dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, and teak were frequently paired with brass mounts, turnings, and protective gallery rims to withstand transport.

Originating in the nineteenth century for military officers on deployment, campaign washstands were constructed to be portable, durable, and functional while maintaining refined craftsmanship.
