An overmantel mirror is a wide wall-mounted or resting mirror designed specifically to sit directly above a fireplace mantelpiece, gaining immense popularity during the Victorian era as a focal architectural feature.

Traditional Victorian gilt frames were crafted from pine or hardwood cores covered in moulded gesso, finished with hand-applied gold leaf water gilding, and fitted with silvered or mercurial mirror glass.
