Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian nautical-style mirrors frequently feature motifs inspired by seafaring traditions, such as carved ropework frames, knotwork pediments, and tassel detailing executed in giltwood or gesso.

These mirrors were constructed using pine or lime wood bases coated in gesso moulding, finished with real gold leaf application over silvered glass panels.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural oxidation or minor distressing to the gold leaf, hand-cut wooden backing boards, original heavy glass with slight imperfections, and carved gesso detailing on timber frames.

Position the mirror centrally above a fireplace hearth, chimney breast, or wide console table to reflect natural light and create a dramatic focal point balancing traditional and modern decor.

Dust the gilded frame gently with a soft dry feather duster or camel hair brush, avoiding water or chemical cleaners that degrade gold leaf, while cleaning the glass carefully with a damp cloth without touching the frame.
