Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Introduced in eighteenth-century Britain during the Georgian era, the dumb waiter was designed as a tiered dining room accessory. It allowed hosts to serve desserts, wine, and condiments without requiring the constant presence of servants, ensuring private conversation during meals.

Georgian tier tables were typically constructed from solid dense mahogany timber, valued for its grain and stability. Central columns were shaped using wood lathes to create hand-carved spiral fluting or baluster turnings, supported by hand-jointed tripod legs.

Authentic Georgian pieces display hand-cut joinery, subtle hand-carved variations in the spiral turnings on the central shaft, and natural patination on the wood surfaces. Examining the underside reveals hand-planed circular trays, historical fixings, and classic pad or snake feet.

In contemporary interior design, a two-tier dumb waiter serves as a versatile accent stand in living room corners or hallway alcoves. The upper tray can support indoor potted plants or ceramics, while the lower tray functions as an occasional side table.

Dusting regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth helps preserve the original surface of mahogany furniture. Applying a natural beeswax polish once or twice a year protects the timber, while positioning the item away from direct heat sources prevents shrinkage and cracking.
