Powerful Austrian Antique (Ca. 1910) Bronze, Foundry Worker, Hans Müller

1900 - 1920
Description

Impressive bronze antique (ca. 1910) sculpture by master Austrian sculptor Hans Müller (1873-1937) depicting a foundry worker lifting a heavy piece of iron with a large pair of tongs. Great attention is given to detail – the intense impression on the worker’s face and the tension is his arms shows how heavy this piece of iron is and the artful way his whole body is shaped. Signed H. Müller on the back edge. 38cm high x 22cm wide x 24cm deep, weight 9kg.

Excellent original condition. A very powerful sculpture.

Hans Müller was born in Vienna (Austria) on January 10th 1873 and was a pupil of Edward von Hellmer at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Although he’s probably best known for his portraits and sculptural busts of famous Viennese society, he created figurative sculptures as well as animals (mostly hunting dogs). There isn’t a lot known about Müller or been written about this talented Austrian artist, other than the many works he has produced. Many of his sculptural pieces are on permanent display in the Simu Museum in Bucharest (Romania).

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
