A very rare early 20th Century mahogany and rosewood lamp or occasional table. This fabulous piece is of exceptional quality, finely carved with beautifully rich patination, grain, fitted with finely cast ormolu mounts and decorated with stunning crossbanded and inlaid marquetry detail throughout. The well figured moulded, line inlaid and crossbanded top of oval form with three quarter pierced ormolu gallery grille and fluted border is adorned to the central reserve with an exquisite marquetry panel depicting Neoclassical motifs featuring a cornucopia of musical instruments, military attire, quiver of arrows, foliate and flowerhead detail. The single drawer frieze is fitted with a decorative pull and features a further series of crossbanded marquetry panels of foliate. Raised above elegantly tapering curved supports conjoined with ormolu trimmed shelved undertier surmounted with three quarter pierced gallery grille with a further gorgeous arrangement of Neoclassical musical, ribbon and foliate motifs to the central reserve, terminating on gracefully tapering outswept leg.
