An antique candlestand is a small, tall table specifically designed to hold a candle or oil lamp for task lighting before the advent of electricity.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid regional timbers such as oak, elm, or fruitwood, featuring a turned central pillar supported by a tripod base with pegged or tenoned joints.

Authenticity is assessed through the presence of hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage, period-appropriate patina, and tool marks consistent with 18th-century woodworking techniques.

This piece functions effectively as an occasional accent table beside a seating area or as a display surface for small decorative objects in a traditional or transitional room.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, and apply periodic applications of traditional beeswax to nourish the finish.
