Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian shop display stand comprises a tall tiered framework of steel poles, cast iron, and wrought iron elements. The structure holds three replacement slatted ash shelves with a natural timber finish and is topped with large round brass ball finials and scrolled feet in black. The cast iron and wrought iron components display a dark black colour, contrasting with the pale ash wood and the bright golden tones of the brass hardware. Measuring 223 cm high by 106 cm wide and 106 cm deep, the unit provides ample surface area for organising belongings. The practical design and industrial loft style suit placement in a modern living room, kitchen, or retail environment for displaying books, plants, decorative objects, or tableware. The piece disassembles easily for transport and arrangement within interior spaces.

FAQs

Victorian shop display stands were commercial fixtures utilised in 19th-century retail establishments, such as bakeries, greengrocers, and haberdasheries, to present goods prominently to customers.

These stands were typically constructed using durable wrought iron or cast iron frames, often accented with decorative brass finials, fittings, and solid timber slatted shelves.

Authentic Victorian examples feature hand-welded ironwork, cast metal feet with decorative scrolling, threaded brass components, and historical surface wear consistent with commercial usage.

In contemporary spaces, these units function effectively as kitchen shelving for cookware, plant stands in conservatories, or display racks for books and ceramics in living areas.

Clean the metal framework with a microfibre cloth and apply clear microcrystalline wax to prevent oxidisation, while treating the timber slats with natural wood oil to retain moisture.
