Description

Striking bronze bust by the Belgian sculptor Emile Louis Jespers (1862-1918). Head and shoulders length bust of a woman in medieval style peasant dress with a hood or cowl and with a serious or downcast facial expression. Very well cast in bronze and presented on a thick over marble plinth. Signed E.Jespers in the cast on the left shoulder and by the 'Cie Des Bronzes Bruxelles' (Brussels Bronze Company) on the rear. Presented as found, in very good condition.
