Description

Size: 370 x 182cm (12ft 2in x 6ft 0in).

Antique Caucasian soumak carpet of three medallion design, excellent condition with superb colour.

Circa 1900.

This soumak is of the classic three medallion format, the small octagonal medallions in madder red are on a indigo blue ground. The outer field is a soft madder red, note the many small tribal filler elements. The border is of a star design on an ivory ground. Both ends retain the original braided end finishes.

The soumak is in excellent condition with slight wear, there is very minor age related damage to the end finishes.

The soumak is suitable for normal domestic use, we would suggest a good underlay on a hard floor.

The soumak has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
