The potteries at Verwood, East Dorset were established in the Middle Ages, the last of them closing in 1952. The wares produced changed little, sturdy, practical and of beautiful simplicity. This is a late C19th jug of good larger size in good order having just a few chips to the foot rim. Regional pottery at its best.
