Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Surfaces should be dusted gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth; moisture, chemical polishes, and direct sunlight must be strictly avoided to prevent degradation of the delicate lacquer and gilt decoration.

This type of occasional table works effectively as a low-profile coffee table, providing a striking graphical contrast when paired with neutral upholstery, minimalist lighting, and simple ceramic accessories.

Authentic items feature fine, hand-painted details with craquelure in the lacquer finish, subtle weight distribution consistent with pressed paper construction, and period-appropriate joinery on any accompanying wooden stands.

These pieces were typically constructed from layers of paper pulp mixed with glue and resin, pressed into moulds, baked, and finished with multiple coats of dark lacquer and hand-gilded details before being mounted on wooden stands.

Regency Chinoiserie refers to decorative arts produced during the British Regency era that were heavily influenced by European interpretations of Chinese and East Asian artistic traditions, often featuring hand-painted motifs on lacquered surfaces.
