We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Regency style furniture, spanning the late 18th to early 19th century, is characterised by classical proportions, neoclassical motifs inspired by ancient Greece and Rome, and the use of dark exotic timbers like rosewood and mahogany.

These pieces were typically crafted from dense hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, or satinwood, often featuring brass castors, stringing inlay, and adjustable mechanisms made of iron or brass.

Authentication involves examining hand-cut dovetail joints, old timber patina, original brass hardware, traditional French polish finishes, and construction techniques consistent with early 19th-century joinery.

An antique music stand can serve as a functional lectern for open art books or sheet music in a study, or as an accent piece in a living room paired with modern minimalist seating to create historical contrast.

Preserve antique rosewood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and maintain the finish by occasionally applying high-quality beeswax while avoiding silicone-based polishes.
