It stands on a shaped marble base and is signed Guerval to the marble. Guerval was a pseudonym of Raymonde Guerbe. It has a foundry seal for LNJL Foundry Paris to the underside of the base. A similar figure is shown page 282 Statuettes of the Art Deco period by Alberto Shayo
Raymond Guerbe used both her real name and the pseudonym Andree Guerval. Born in Paris in 1894 she was a multi talented artist who worked in many media including bronze, terracotta and ceramics. She was a student of Dance in 1919 in Paris and was taught by Isadora Duncan and her brother Raymond. She exhibited at the Salon d’Automn from 1923-1927 and 1934, 1936 1938. She was married to Pierre le Faguays.
(Les Neveux by J. Lehmann, also abbreviated LN Paris JL) is a Parisian art foundry, mainly renowned for the production and distribution of bronze statuettes, mostly chryselephantine, in the Art Deco period of the 1920s and 1930s The company's headquarters were located at 26 rue de Paradis, in Paris. Another part of the business was located at 14, avenue de l'Opéra. Production ended with the Second World War and the German occupation of France.
