Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A fusee pocket watch incorporates a cone-shaped pulley system designed to equalise the force delivered by the mainspring as it unwinds. This mechanical innovation improved timekeeping accuracy in portable clocks and pocket watches prior to the widespread adoption of the going barrel mechanism.

Victorian pocket watches commonly featured silver or gold cases, vitreous enamel dials, blued steel or brass hands, and glass crystals over the face. The inner mechanical movements relied on steel gears, brass plates, and occasionally jewelled bearings.

Authentic pieces generally display full British hallmarks on the inside of the case back, indicating the silver purity, assay office, date letter, and makers mark. Dials frequently show Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds sub-dials, and hand-painted maker details.

Antique pocket watches are frequently displayed under glass cloches, mounted on dedicated pocket watch stands on desks, or framed within shadow boxes for wall display in classic or transitional interiors.

Store the timepiece in a dry, temperature-controlled environment away from direct moisture. Microfibre cloths should be used to polish the silver case, while mechanical servicing should be undertaken by a professional horologist.
