A fine quality PAIR of Bronze animals, a small-sized bronze Bull, and a bronze Cow of matching size. Both are identically signed to the base by famous French modeller Isidore Jules Bonheur (1827-1901). Detail is crisp and sharp, with good colour and patina.

Dimensions: Length: 12 cm (Bull and Cow). Height (Bull): 8.2cm. Height (cow): 8cm.

Isidore Jules Bonheur (1827-1901) was an artist best known as one of the 19th centuries most distinguished French 'animalièr' sculptors. Bonheur began his career as an artist working with his (possibly more famous) elder sister Rosa Bonheur in the studio of their father, drawing instructor Raymond Bonheur. Initially working as a painter. Isidore made his Salon debut in 1848. Like his sister he found greater success selling into the English market.
