A 19th Century Mahogany Canterbury. There are three compartments with pierced scroll fretwork divisions above a drawer with turned handles. The Canterbury sits on spindle feet forming a sturdy and elegant magazine/newspaper rack.
 
The Canterbury got its name from the Archbishop of Canterbury who commissioned the first piece in 1780. This was a popular item of furniture in the Victorian and Edwardian periods. Traditionally, it held sheet music.
