French 18th Century Carved Wood Painted Putto or Cherub

Description

A charming 18th century painted wooden putto, this is just the right size for display and has been attached to a later wooden stand in an ideal position for viewing. He is finely carved, with even his finger and toe nails visible, with red lips and he has a robe draped around which has been painted in green. Without wings, he is technically not a cherub, but has the chubby putto form. A beautiful decorative item which will make a delightful talking piece for any home.

Dating to the 18th century, this is made of wood and originates from France.

In good age related condition, this has been mounted onto a later wooden stand for display. There have been some sympathetic repairs which are not obtrusive, particularly to the upper part of the raised arm and to the upper thighs. All fingers and toes are intact.
