Superbly detailed casting of the iconic warrior mounted upon a ‘rouge griotte’ marble plinth base .

Rediscovered near Anzio, Italy , in 1610 , the sculpture became part of the Borghese collection at Villa Borghese in Rome before being acquired by Napoleon and taken to Paris . Copies can be found in the collections of the great museums and noble houses of the world, including Houghton Hall, Blenheim Palace , and Chatsworth House in England.
In excellent original condition with a rich dark brown patination and surface.
