We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tehran carpets were produced in urban workshops in northern Persia during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They are recognized for drawing design inspiration from classic Safavid court carpets, featuring intricate floral vines, arabesques, and pictorial motifs.

Traditional Persian carpets are hand-knotted using high-grade wool pile knotted onto a durable cotton or silk warp and weft foundation. Natural vegetable and mineral dyes were historically employed to produce rich, long-lasting colours.

Authentic Tehran carpets typically feature asymmetrical Persian knots, a fine knot density, and a soft, tightly clipped wool pile. The design repertoire often includes structured field layouts, balanced arabesques, and detailed pictorial or animal elements.

An antique Persian carpet acts as a foundational anchor in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Positioning the rug beneath a seating group or dining table adds colour, texture, and historical depth while balancing neutral modern furnishings.

Regular vacuuming using a suction-only setting prevents grit from settling into the pile. Professional cleaning by a specialist textile restorer is recommended every few years, along with rotating the carpet periodically to ensure even surface wear.
