Antique Kirman Carpet

Description

This soft tone antique Kerman (Kirman) carpet has a classical refined and elegant vase design. The pale background allows the soft purples, pale blues and green dyes to really shine.  The colour variety is a real delight and would be wonderful to design a room around.  Vase carpets are a type of Kerman rug distinctive of the 16th and 17th centuries, are characterised by an allover pattern of stylised flowers and oversized palmettes with vases placed throughout the field.  The early dyes on this ancient carpet are remarkable, soft greens, pinks, purples, and an off-white background.

With a fine weave it does have a flat pile, with old restoration but in general good order.  We supply high quality underlay which adds keeping this exquisite carpet sit beautifully flat and preserve it for many more years.  Woven over 150 years ago this muted piece would look magnificent in a bedroom or study for example.
