Farnham Antique Carpets has dated this Antique Heriz Persian Carpet to the 1890s.
Woven in the late 19th century this carpet has been hand-woven using the best natural dyes from that period. We can see a soft brick red background with a fantastic variety of indigo blues used for the floral motifs, plus sandy gold toned minor borders either side of a deeper blue main border. There is ancient Abrash too, this is the term for dye change. As when it was woven over 130 years ago the weavers have used different dyed wool and this has mellowed over time and shown the subtle changes in the dyes. It adds immense character and beauty to a piece.

A couple of old areas of tiny restoration have taken place on the brick red background, these are hardly visible and could be improved if required. The wool pile is medium high on this piece with a only a few minor lower areas of pile, both ends have been secured too. In general it is in excellent original order and it would be a durable and decorative addition to any room.
