Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Heriz carpets originate from the Heris region in Northwest Iran, near Mount Sabalan. Weavers in this area developed a distinct aesthetic by translating refined city carpet designs into bold, angular, geometric interpretations, producing durable textiles that gained international prominence throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Traditional Heriz carpets are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. The local wool from Northwest Iran is rich in copper content due to regional drinking water, contributing to the exceptional strength and longevity of the pile.

Authentic Heriz rugs feature rectilineal, geometric renditions of floral forms rather than smooth curves, alongside a palette dominated by terracotta red, indigo blue, and muted accent shades. Examination of the reverse reveals slight irregularities in knot spacing and natural abrash colour variations indicative of hand-weaving and plant-based dyes.

An antique Heriz carpet anchors a room by establishing visual balance against contemporary clean-lined furniture or complementing period woodwork. Positioning the carpet under a central seating arrangement or dining set introduces architectural warmth and colour balance to modern spaces.

Regular vacuuming using suction only, without a rotating beater bar, prevents fibre damage. Spills should be blotted immediately with a dry cloth, and professional rug cleaning by an antique specialist is recommended every few years alongside periodic rotation to ensure even exposure to light and foot traffic.
