Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Heriz carpets originate from the Northwest region of Iran, woven in villages surrounding the city of Heriz. Produced predominantly from the nineteenth century onwards, these carpets are celebrated for their distinctive geometric interpretations of classical Persian floral designs, resulting in bold, architectural central medallions.

Traditional Heriz carpets are hand-knotted using a durable wool pile on a strong cotton warp and weft foundation. The local wool is often rich in copper content due to regional soil composition, which enhances yarn strength and allows natural vegetable dyes to retain rich terracotta, navy, and cream tones over decades.

Authentic Heriz carpets feature angular, straight-line geometric renderings of floral motifs rather than smooth curvilinear lines. They typically present a large central starburst medallion, prominent corner spandrels, a coarse to medium Turkish symmetry knot structure, and a heavy, durable wool pile.

A large Heriz carpet provides visual weight and colour contrast when paired with contemporary neutral upholstery or traditional dark wood furniture. Position the rug so that key seating anchors the perimeter, allowing the central geometric medallion to remain visible as a focal point.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting to avoid damaging the hand-knotted pile, and rotate the carpet periodically to ensure even wear and light exposure. Professional spot cleaning should be carried out using pH-balanced wool cleaners, and a high-quality rug underlay should be placed beneath it to protect the foundation.
