How do I hang a vintage glass drop light?

Suspension requires securing the fixture to a ceiling joist using an appropriate metal hook or bracket capable of supporting the weight of the metal and glass. Electrical wiring must be fed through the central stem or canopy to connect with the domestic supply. Professional installation is recommended due to the delicate nature of the hanging crystal prisms and the combined weight of brass and glass components.

What periods do these lights come from?

The listings span from the nineteenth century through the Edwardian period and into the nineteen-twenties and nineteen-thirties. You will find Victorian English pieces alongside French Empire and Italian designs. Dates are attributed based on the construction style, metal casting techniques, and the cut of the glass elements.

Can I clean the crystal drops?

Crystal prisms and glass drops can be cleaned by removing them from the frame or wiping them in situ with a mild solution of warm water and detergent. Individual drops should be dried with a soft cloth to restore their refractive clarity. Care must be taken not to strain the wire fixings that attach the glass to the metal armature during the cleaning process.
