What periods do these lamp tables come from?

The listings span the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries, covering Georgian, Regency, Victorian, and Edwardian eras. Pieces from the Sheraton period and Regency workshops like Gillows appear alongside later Victorian and Edwardian interpretations. Construction details and stylistic traits help distinguish between an 18th-century piece and a later Edwardian revival. Timber choice and turning styles shift visibly across these decades.

How were these small tables used originally?

These tables served multiple functions in period rooms, acting as stands for lighting, wine, or tea, as well as working surfaces for sewing or writing. Drop-leaf and Pembroke versions adapted easily to smaller spaces. In daily use, their portable proportions allowed them to move readily beside chairs, sofas, or beds as needs changed.

How do I care for a mahogany surface?

Mahogany requires simple dusting with a soft cloth and occasional treatment with appropriate natural waxes to maintain the finish. Avoid placing tables in direct sunlight or near heat sources to protect the timber and veneers. Proper humidity levels prevent the solid mahogany and flame veneers from drying out or splitting over time.
