How do I identify a Regency paw feet table?

Regency tables often display classical restraint alongside bold mounts, utilising dark timbers like mahogany or rosewood paired with brass paw feet. Look for architectural elements such as lyre ends, brass inlay, and balanced proportions characteristic of the early nineteenth century.

Are marble top tables heavy?

Yes, tables featuring original veined marble inserts carry significant weight in the top section, which helps stabilize the pedestal base. This weight distribution makes them sturdy as centre or gueridon tables, though care must be taken when moving them across floors.

How do I care for a rosewood occasional table?

Keep rosewood and mahogany surfaces away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent the timber and veneers from drying out or fading. Dust regularly with a dry cloth and occasionally apply appropriate wax polish to maintain the finish without building up residue.
