How do I clean a marble top safely?

Use a soft cloth dampened with warm water and a neutral, non-abrasive soap. Avoid acidic cleaners, vinegar, or harsh chemicals that can etch the polished stone surface. Dry the marble thoroughly after wiping to prevent water spots. Routine dusting keeps abrasive particles from scratching the surface over time.

Where should I place these cabinets?

Position them away from direct sunlight and heat sources to protect the delicate wood veneers from fading and drying out. Controlled indoor humidity prevents the underlying timber carcase from warping. Living rooms, studies, and bedrooms suit these forms well, depending on whether the piece is a display vitrine, a writing desk, or a bedside table.

What is vernis martin?

Vernis Martin is a decorative lacquer finish developed in eighteenth-century France to imitate Asian lacquerware. It was applied in translucent tinted layers to create depth and luminous colour. Cabinets featuring this technique often display painted pastoral scenes or orientalist motifs beneath a protective glossy resin coat.
