How do I hang a heavy gold candle mirror?

Secure the piece directly into wall studs using appropriate fixings rated for the weight of the timber and glass. Distribute the load evenly if the item incorporates protruding metal candle arms.

Were these mirrors meant to burn real candles?

Original examples held wax or tallow candles to amplify illumination before the advent of gas and electric lighting. Modern placement often retains unlit candles for historical effect or utilises low-heat alternatives.

How do I distinguish a Regency convex mirror?

Regency convex mirrors typically feature circular frames surmounted by carved eagles or ball-and-acorn motifs. The curved glass reflects a wide-angle view of the room.

What is the difference between a girandole and a sconce?

A girandole specifically pairs candle branches with a reflective mirror plate. A wall sconce may simply mount candles against a mirrored or plain backplate without the specific girandole configuration.
