What periods do these paintings come from?

The selections span from the seventeenth century through to the early twentieth century. Nineteenth-century and Victorian works form a particularly large share of the available pieces. Earlier examples reflect grand tour traditions or classical landscapes, while later Victorian and Edwardian pieces lean into British and European realism.

Are these paintings original works?

The inventory includes original oil paintings by listed artists alongside period copies after masters like François Boucher. Catalogues note whether a work is an original composition or an interpretive study. Signatures, brushwork depth, and canvas ageing help distinguish direct originals from later studio reproductions.

How do I care for antique canvas art?

Keep oil paintings away from direct sunlight and dramatic temperature shifts to prevent canvas slackening and paint cracking. Gentle dusting with a soft, dry brush is sufficient for maintenance. Avoid using water or cleaning solutions on the painted surface or the fragile gilt frame.
