How do I assemble a four poster bed?

These frames rely on heavy iron bolts and interlocking bed rails that slot directly into heavy corner posts. You will need at least two people and proper spanners to secure the joints evenly. Once the main posts and rails form a rigid square, the headboard and overhead tester are lifted into place and locked. Patience is required to ensure the structure remains square before tightening all fixings.

Will a king size antique bed fit modern mattresses?

You should check the internal dimensions between the rails carefully against your mattress size. Custom slat bases or subtle hidden adjustments can often bridge small discrepancies between antique timber dimensions and standard modern mattress widths.

How do I care for antique mahogany timber?

Regular dusting with a soft, dry cloth prevents particulate accumulation from dulling the hand-rubbed polish. Avoid silicone-based sprays, which build up a hazy film over the grain. Feed the wood periodically with a traditional beeswax polish to nourish the timber and maintain a deep, natural lustre without sealing the surface permanently.
