Brass Wall Hat Rack
A brass wall hat rack combines robust metal hooks with a supportive timber backboard designed for hallway mounting.
These pieces range from compact Victorian boards with ceramic tipped hooks to long French portmanteaus incorporating upper luggage shelves.
The materials span mahogany, oak, and ebonised wood alongside heavy cast brass mountings and occasional mirrored plates.
How they were made
Backboards rely on solid timbers such as mahogany and oak, often shaped or ebonised to create a dark contrasting ground for the metal.
Hooks and brackets utilise cast brass, sometimes paired with ceramic inserts or shaped as equestrian motifs and horseshoe plates.
