What is antique mahogany treen?

Antique mahogany treen covers small functional and decorative wooden objects made from mahogany, spanning the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. These pieces include tablewares, desk accessories, and pocket items shaped by turning or carving.

Were these items made for everyday use?

Most pieces served specific domestic, social, or personal tasks in past households, from serving wine and cheese to holding snuff or needles. Their survival demonstrates how everyday objects received careful craftsmanship.

How should I care for turned mahogany?

Keep wooden treen away from direct heat sources and sudden humidity changes to prevent timber movement or splitting. An occasional light application of appropriate wax helps maintain the surface sheen.
