Solid timber frames and sturdy joints allow these seats to withstand regular contemporary usage. Care should be taken with antique leather upholstery and swivel mechanisms to preserve their working condition.

Dating relies upon observing timber types, structural joinery methods, and prevailing stylistic influences such as Chippendale or Regency. Hardware components like iron swivel screws also provide clear chronological indicators for 19th-century pieces.
