How do I install an antique brass sconce pair?

Installation requires securing the backplates firmly to wall studs or using appropriate cavity fixings to support the metal weight. Wiring must be assessed by a qualified electrician if converted for modern lighting use.

Were these sconces made for candles or electricity?

Earlier examples were built exclusively to hold wax candles on drip pans and nozzles. Later pieces from the twentieth century often accommodate electrical fittings.

How do I clean antique brass?

Dusting with a soft, dry cloth preserves the aged patina accumulated over the decades. Avoid harsh chemical metal polishes that strip away historical surface character.

What rooms suit wall sconces best?

Sconces suit hallways, living rooms, and dining spaces where paired vertical lighting enhances symmetry. They function well flanking mirrors, fireplaces, or architectural doorways.
