Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Middle Eastern tray tables originate from traditional nomadic and urban domestic cultures where large metal trays were used for serving food and communal dining, paired with collapsible wooden stands for easy storage and transport.

These pieces typically feature a hand-beaten and engraved copper or brass tray resting upon a collapsible, intricately turned wooden base, often joined by mortise and tenon or folding scissor mechanisms.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-chased or engraved details with irregular tool marks, heavy patina, hand-forged joinery in the wooden base, and older alloy compositions rather than modern machine stamping.

A tray table serves as an eclectic accent piece, working effectively as a low coffee table or side table to introduce metallic texture, warmth, and global character into contemporary living spaces.

Preserve the metal by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes that strip historical patina; apply microcrystalline wax sparingly if protection against oxidation is required.
