We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The George III period spanned from 1760 to 1820, a golden age of English furniture design characterised by refined classical proportions, skilled craftsmanship, and the influence of master cabinetmakers such as Thomas Chippendale, George Hepplewhite, and Thomas Sheraton.

Cabinetmakers of this era predominantly utilised dense, durable timbers such as solid mahogany and oak, often accented with hand-cut brass hardware, dovetail joinery, and occasionally fine veneers or stringing.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-cut dovetails on the drawer construction, timber shrinkage consistent with age, period-appropriate secondary woods like pine or oak, and hand-forged or cast brass handles matching historical hardware designs.

Pairing a dark wood antique table with modern minimalist decor creates a sophisticated contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the piece while grounding the surrounding contemporary furnishings.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, and periodically nourish the surface with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone-based polishes.
