This 18th-century Georgian oak low boy displays a warm brown colour with rich surface patination across its timbers. The top edge is scalloped, and a single drawer beneath contains two small brass drop handles. Below the drawer sits a shaped apron, while the cabriole legs feature carved decoration at the knees and typical Isle of Mann feet resting on the floor. The piece measures 75 cm high, 84 cm wide, and 63 cm deep. In a modern interior, this practical side table serves well as an accent piece beside the front door to hold small everyday items, or functions effectively as a decorative surface in a hallway, bedroom, or living space. Its traditional English country house style brings historic character and useful surface space into domestic settings.

A lowboy is an 18th-century side table or dressing table typically designed with one or more drawers, cabriole or turned legs, and a low profile. Widely produced across Britain during the Georgian period, these tables served both decorative and functional roles in bedrooms and reception rooms.

Georgian oak lowboys were crafted using solid English oak, joined with traditional pegged mortise and tenon joints. Drawers typically featured hand-cut dovetails, hand-planed bottoms, and cast brass drop handles or teardrop pulls.

Authentic 18th-century lowboys exhibit signs of historic craftsmanship, including uneven hand-sawn wood markings, irregular hand-cut dovetail joints, natural timber shrinkage over time, and a deep, aged surface patina that cannot be replicated artificially.

An antique oak lowboy can function as a console table in an entryway, a side table in a living room, or an accent piece in a bedroom. Combining the warm oak tones with minimalist artwork or contemporary table lamps creates a balanced, layered interior scheme.

Maintain the surface by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year following the grain of the wood. Position the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme changes in humidity to protect the timber.
