Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this piece to the 1930s.
The enamelling has been exquisitely done with many petals graduating not only in tone but also in colour showing great skill from the artist. The palette of colours has been restricted to white, blues and turquoise with bursts of bright red and orange to small elements giving the most striking eye appeal to this most unusual piece. The underside has the enamelled factory or artists mark also worked in cloisonne. The lid is unusual as it locates onto two pegs which can be rotated in a trapped slot locking the lid in place. A very pleasing piece, in perfect condition.
