A very high quality and well-made example, the cushions are all medium feather filled, they are fully upholstered on both sides so should the worse happen and you stain one side you can simply flip it over. The complete frame is all metal coil sprung, that’s the arms, the base and the back, the front panel is also sprung which is rare and a sign of the highest quality seating. The front panel (which sits behind you knee) is usually a solid piece of timber, on luxury models is coil sprung which offers extra comfortable. The padding is all original horse hair, if you squeeze it you will hear the crunch.

The Damask upholstery seems to be in very good order, there is an ever so slight little discoloration on the side panel of the sofa, it’s almost impossible to see, I tried to picture it but it’s so faint it wouldn’t show up. Otherwise, I genuinely can’t see a mark on it.

The frame is walnut and the legs are all Lion hairy paw in the 17th century style, they have been cleaned waxed and polished.
