Description

This is a set of six coffee can / Demi tasse cups holders and saucers.

They are contained within a vending box bearing the name J J Sweeney , Houston Texas.

Sweeneys jewellers were established in 1875z

This set was manufactured circa 1910.

The Demitasse holders and saucers were manufactured by Gotham in providence.

The holders stand on a shaped foot which attaches to a detailed and pierced body from which rises a high loop handle. The saucers are solid sterling silver ...

The solid saucers have a deep central well for the footed holder to be secure within.

All silver holders and saucers are clearly hallmarked.

The cup inserts were made by Lennox of Trenton , New Jersey.

They are a pale oyster colour with a gold rim .

The porcelain is exceptionally fine and the light weight of these pieces is reflective of the oriental egg shall porcelain.

The bell shaped inserts have a flared rim and clear backstamps.

This is a truly unique and rare example to find in the uk , especially in an original vending box , which shows evidence of wear commensurate with age on one external corner, but has no signs of wear internally and is lined with a rich plush green velvet.
