Technical Description
 
A highly unusual Linthorpe style pottery wine jug dating to the late 19th century.
 
The highly unusual design, colour combination, glaze and bleeding would all point to early Linthorpe, however, the pottery mark ''ENGLAND'' is not a known Linthorpe mark and indeed after extensive research, we can''t say for sure who produced this piece...only that it is of exceptional quality and design and very much out of the Christopher Dresser handbook.
 
With red, blue.green brown, amethyst and yellow mottling, the wine jug has a ''hollow'' handle and small spout with a ribbed neck. Marked ''ENGLAND'' on the base.
