Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the 18th century, Georgian corner cabinets were designed to utilise space efficiently within dining rooms and parlours. They typically feature flame mahogany veneers, panelled doors, classical moulding, and high-quality cabinetmaking techniques characteristic of the era.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany and flame mahogany veneers laid over secondary softwoods like pine or oak. Hand-cut dovetail joints, brass escutcheons, and hand-planed timber surfaces are standard construction elements.

Authentic period examples exhibit evidence of hand tools, including uneven saw marks on reverse surfaces, hand-forged iron hinges, and original brass lock plates. The timber displays natural patination, oxidation on untreated areas, and minor age-related shrinkage across timber panels.

A Georgian corner cabinet can be wall-mounted in a contemporary dining space or hallway to introduce architectural character without encroaching on floor space. Styling the interior shelves with modern ceramics or glassware creates an engaging juxtaposition between historic cabinetry and contemporary decor.

Maintain the polished timber by dusting regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice per year. Position the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage and veneer fading.
