Vienna Porcelain Chocolate Cup and Saucer, C. 1760.

Description

A fine Vienna porcelain chocolate cup and saucer, c. 1760. Both items finely painted in monochrome, with European buildings and architectural features, being admired by figures painted in enamels, and wearing 18th Century costume. Within gilt strapwork borders. The chocolate cup having an elaborate scroll handle, heightened with gilding.

Beehive marks in underglaze blue, and iron red numbers to the bases.

Height of cup - 7 cm, 2 3/4”.

Diameter of saucer - 13.3 cm, 5 2/8”.

Condition - Excellent, original condition. No damage. No restoration.
